The Best Podcasts about The Bachelor & The Bachelorette!
Look.
My recent posts have been so (importantly) heavy. Maternal Mental Health is a giant passion of mine and I’m going to keep that conversation going throughout the year. So before you join me as I veer significantly off-course into the land of the Bachelor/Bachelorette, I have a request. If you’re a mommy out there who hasn’t read my posts this month, talking about important issues and struggles that moms face, will you take a few minutes to get to know me and a bestie of mine a little more? You can find a few of these posts here: 7 Lies that Stay-at-Home Moms Need to Stop Telling Themselves Immediately, From the Silence – Guest Post by Addie Davis, The Enneagram & Me – The Story of an Enneagram Type Three
It’s important to me that today’s post doesn’t detract from the intensity and significance of the messaging that I’ve been committed to this month and always.
Okay. So.
Excuse me while we quickly switch gears here.
In fact, why don’t you pour a glass of wine and then head back?
Okay?! Cheers!
One thing I haven’t talked about much here on the blog is my love for alllll things in the Bachelor franchise. I’m always chatting with you guys about how moms needs outlets and hobbies and interests, and well, this just so happens to be a significant one of mine!
Throughout the week, I regularly catch myself doing the quick math to figure out how many days are left until Monday. When that glorious Monday finally rolls around, I love tucking all my tiny people into bed and then sneaking downstairs to pour a satisfying glass of wine, which I thoroughly enjoy while endlessly analyzing the psyches and love lives of these hopeful romantics. I’ll admit, the show doesn’t always bring the most wholesome content, but, well, I enjoy it. (a gross understatement).
Even though my friends and I dissect the show together via an average of 200+ message threads per episode, I find myself wanting even more dialogue beyond these convos. (Because clearly my obsession runs deeeeeep). But for that extra dialogue, I go to podcast-land. Over the last couple of years, I’ve listened to many Bachelor-related podcasts (and continue to find more!), so I’m gonna do you the favor of saving you some time and breaking your options down right here!
READY?!
1. Almost Famous (produced by iHeartRadio)
One of the most popular Bachelor/Bachelorette podcasts, this one runs year-round and is hosted by Ashley I. and Ben Higgins, both former cast members (contestants? What IS the best word here?) Remember the gal that looks like Princess Jasmine/Kim Kardashian and cried nonstop on Chris Soules’ season and then like 3 seasons of Bachelor in Paradise? That’s Ashley I. And you’ll remember Ben because he was sent home while vying for Kaitlyn Bristowe’s affection, and then was made the next Bachelor. Both hosts are still super tight with production staff as well as current cast, which gives them a particularly interesting take on the current seasons!
On this podcast, they interview the most popular cast members and it’s always pretty fascinating. They give a lot of behind-the-scene info. In the past, they haven’t always recapped the shows (especially when Ben isn’t watching the season), but for this particular season, they have been doing recaps, which is great.
My only complaint (other than the significant amount of ads) is that Ben (while I appreciate and enjoy him), is quite censored and politically correct, giving off a sometimes fake vibe. I know he’s more interesting than he comes off on the pod. He is much more likeable as an interviewee on other podcasts, versus a host, IMO.
Bottom line on this one: come for Ashley I, and stay for the interviews. It’s a good ‘un.
Skip this one if: You can’t handle the calculated sound of Ben’s voice.
Listen because: They have the best, most relevant Bachelor/Bachelorette guests of any other podcast.
2. Here to Make Friends (produced by The Huffington Post)
This podcast is hosted by Emma Gray and Claire Fallon, and these girls are just…legit. They write for Huffington Post, and part of their job is to run this podcast (which, by my understanding, was their idea). Sharp and witty, they offer impressive insight (although it’s speculatory, of course) into the choices made by the contestants and the show’s production. You won’t be disappointed with the wide variety of intriguing guests (often contestants or celebrities of sorts – I am now obsessed with Allison Williams because of this podcast).
Emma & Claire do an solid recap of each episode on the show that I swear makes me smarter. I know it’s a weird thing to say. But just listen and you’ll understand.
I love that this podcast is strongly focused on Bachelor/Bachelorette and they don’t often stray from the topic of the show. BUT, that being said, those who consider themselves super conservatives may find themselves cringing…often. These gals are bad-a feminists on a mission, and you won’t escape it.
One last note: they break during the off-season, but they do cover all Bachelor-related seasons each year.
Skip this one if: You are opposed to or cannot tolerate liberal political banter.
Listen because: You love a great show recap and want to learn some new vocabulary.
3. Off the Vine with Kaitlyn Bristowe (produced by PodcastOne)
Kaitlyn. Kaitlyn. She is just, like, my spirit animal. Maybe it’s because she’s also an Enneagram type 3, or maybe it’s because she is a champion of strong women, but I appreciate and respect her (even though we disagree on some pretty major issues).
Her podcast isn’t always about the Bachelor, but she does have a lot of guests who were on the show. Also, she cares verrrrry little about protecting franchise secrets, so she tells it like it is, and gives a lot of juicy details when she IS talking about the Bachelor. (Side note: listen to the Almost Famous podcast where they do an in-dept with Kaitlyn. Really interesting content).
She now does three podcasts a week: Off the Vine, Grape Therapy, and Drunk Dial. Off the Vine is my fav. If you enjoy Kaitlyn, there is potential to get several hours “with” her each week.
Skip this one if: 1. You’re a dude. 2. You hate wine. 3. If you need the show to be all about the Bachelor/Bachelorette all the time.
Listen because: You want to be entertained and educated on interesting, empowering topics from a gal who likes to party.
4. Bachelor Party (produced by the Ringer)
Hosted by Juliet Litman, a fast-talking, reality-TV loving, intellectual gal, I am always checking my phone to see if I accidentally hit the 1.5x button on my phone when I turn her podcast on. She’s another one who has connections within the staff and contestants on the show, and often has entertaining guests. (Ben Higgins was a recent guest).
Not every podcast of hers is Bachelor-related, because she loves other reality shows like Vanderpump Rules, but most are, and she usually recaps the show.
Skip this one if: You can’t handle the speed at which she thinks and delivers her info!
Listen because: You need more Bachelor/Bachelorette insight from production staff and contestants, with an enthusiastic and entertaining host.
5. Mouthing Off with Olivia Caridi (produced by Radio.com)
Olivia was a contestant on the show who received a villain edit back on the season when Ben Higgins was the Bachelor (in 2016). As unlikeable as she may have been then, I would say she’s equally or more likeable on her podcast now. She continues to be tight with current contestants and gets more and more interesting guests as her podcast increases in popularity. She does her homework before her interviews, which leads to more meaningful conversations than some of the others.
Skip this one if: You’re dying to get your episode recaps.
Listen because: You want to see what’s going on with former contestants (i.e. Courtney Robertson was just on the show).
6. The Betchelor Podcast (produced by Betchelor Media)
This podcast is hosted by Derek Peth (remember him winning Bachelor in Paradise with Taylor Nolan?), and a gal named Kay. When I heard Derek was on a podcast, I was honestly concerned I would hate it because I find him to be pretty monotone, but that was, in fact, NOT the case. I mean, he IS monotone, but I have found that he gives valuable perspective on the episodes. I appreciate his point of view on what is going on with the guys (because I often have NO IDEA WHAT THEY COULD POSSIBLY BE THINKING). But Derek often does. He freely gives his behind-the-scene speculation, as well, which keeps me coming back for more of this podcast. Kay is lovely, as well. You’ll enjoy her. They seem to get their pick of guests, with Nick Viall and Ben Higgins being recent selections.
Skip this one if: You are bored by Derek’s voice.
Listen because: You are interested in the perspective of an intelligent male, along with interesting guests.
7. Chicks in the Office (produced by Barstool Sports)
This podcast is admittedly new to me, but I’m enjoying it. It’s hosted by Ria and Fran, who discuss a lot of other pop culture topics, but also include a show recap in their podcast. They are guilty of having pretty significant potty-mouths, but have a lot to say about the world as well as the world of the Bachelor/Bachelorette.
Skip this one if: You cringe at profanity, or want your pod to be completely Bachelor franchise-related.
Listen because: You’ll get some relevant info about the pop culture world in addition to interesting perspective on the Bachelor shows.
I am sure to have missed some favorites, but these are mine! ❤️
Let me know if you know about one that you think that I (or any of my other friends here) would love! Do I have any other Bachelor/Bachelorette fans in the room?! ❤️❤️
Thanks for indulging me a bit this week! Cheers!!!
