Affordable Inspiration for your Thanksgiving Decor!
Welp. I missed decorating for Halloween. Just flat-out didn’t make it happen. And let me tell you why.
I THREW OUT all of my Halloween decor as I pulled it out of the boxes…skeletons with missing limbs, glow-in-the-dark spiders that were looking…rough…, tombstones with scary skeleton hands reaching around them from behind, fake cobwebs that had turned into a sad, tangled, neglected pile of cotton. Fortunately, these items were all Dollar Store buys. But it was time for them to goooo. And when I looked around for more Halloween decor options, everything just seemed a little too frightening for my little gals (now 1, 3, & 5). I plan to get them involved in decorating next year, to let them pick what is and is not too scary for them!
All of that to say, I skipped Halloween and went straight into Fall and Thanksgiving decor and I am quite satisfied with that decision for the year!
This year was my first attempt at *actual* Thanksgiving decor, and I hope you love what I found! Maybe it will even inspire you to at least grab a couple of festive pieces in preparation for the remaining holidays this year!
I had five different areas of the home that I wanted to target for my first go-round here (I was feeling ambitious): two sideboard tables, our kitchen island, our dining table, and our living room mantle.
After arranging, then rearranging, (and the re-arranging again), I have everything in some kind of order that feels “right.” You know that feeling, too, I bet.
Ready to see what I put together?!
(I’ve linked everything that is still available!)
The Island
For the island, I decided to go with the most neutral colors of any of the spaces, to reduce possibility of the decor feeling “cluttery.” Because our house has a modern industrial decor theme, I choose wood and metals. To give the look some dimension, I went with a taller metal tree, and a larger lantern.
Table runner: (Homegoods) – $12.99
Pumpkin with metal accent: (Pier 1) – $12.99
Metal table tree: (Fred Meyer) – $44.99 (on sale for $20.24 with buy one, get one ½ off, but not available online, sadly!)
Metal circular stand: (Pier 1) – Galvanized Wire Small Cake Stand $15.96 currently
“Thankful”: (Homegoods) – Metal sign – $9.99
Plaid pumpkin: (Target): Knit Plaid Pumpkin Halloween Decoration Large – Spritz™ – $10.00
Lantern: Similar style from IKEA – $9.99
The Mantle
I love the way the mantle turned out! With a dark wood mantle, and a tin accent wall behind it, I wanted to choose contrasting pieces that could be seen. I love this twine and metal leaf garland. I simply secured it with thumbtacks. I chose pumpkins (both real and fake) as my main decor focus on this area, as they work through Thanksgiving!
“Gather” sign: (Kohls) – SONOMA Goods for Life™ “Gather” Galvanized Metal Sign – $9.99 (clearance)
Orange Pumpkin on mantle: (Kohls) – Celebrate Fall Together Large Leaves Pumpkin – $11.99 (on sale)
Garland: (Wayfair) – Metal Harvest Leaf Garland – $12.99
Goldenrod Arrangement: (Target) 16.5″ x 10″ Artificial Goldenrod Arrangement in Ceramic Pot Yellow/White – Threshold™ – $24.99
Knit Orange Pumpkin on metal stand: (Target) Knit Orange Pumpkin Halloween Decoration Large – Spritz™ – $10.00 (currently unavailable online)
Entry Sideboard
This is our entryway piece, and I decided to keep it simple. I went with a more colorful theme than the neutrals seen above, with rust accents, based around the wall art that I acquired first. I put the beaded pumpkins in a bread basket I already had (and I think it works)! Ideally the wall art would be, well, on the wall. But I couldn’t quite get it done myself and my hubs wasn’t available to help at the time! (You get it).
Table Runner: (Target) Multi Plaid Table Runner – Threshold™ – $17.09 (sale price)
Wall Art piece: (Fred Meyer) – Wood & Metal Fall Art – $44.99
Beaded pumpkins: (Wayfair) Beaded Pumpkin Decorative Accent – $19.99
Berry Garland: (Wayfair) 5′ Autumn Harvest Artificial Berrie and Leave Rustic Twig Thanksgiving Garland – $25.99
Twig bundle: (Kohls) Twig Accent Bundle – $8.16 (on sale)
Pumpkin mugs: (Pier 1) Large pumpkin mugs – $3.99 (clearance last season)
Hallway Sideboard
I actually got two of the plaid table runners because they were such a great price, and I felt like having two of them would help with continuity. This table, to be honest, is a little colorful for my liking, but, the colors work together so well that I couldn’t resist! And again, I tied in a metal accent in order to fit with the modern industrial theme.
Table Runner: (Target) Multi Plaid Table Runner – Threshold™ – $17.09 (sale price)
Metal Bicycle Decor: (Wayfair) Metal Harvest Bicycle Pumpkin Decor – $18.99 (on closeout currently)
Twig Ball: (Pier 1) Fall decorative sphere – $4.99
Flower Bundle: (Pier 1) Fall Faux Wildflowers & Cotton Bundle – $13.99 (on sale)
The Table
Obviously, it would be a dream to have a giant table with a beautiful table runner, but our toddler would 100% be pulling everything off in 2 seconds flat, if that were the case. So, instead, I opted to put out a festive placemat, cover it with a metal tray we use most often to transport items from the kitchen to the bar area downstairs (you can check that out in THIS post: A Basement Makeover You Won’t Want to Miss!) Please ignore: 1. The fact that the candle holder is missing the candle, and 2. All of the damage to our table that we will not be replacing for at least two more years because #toddlers.
Metal Tray: (Similar style – Pier 1) – Metal tray – $29.95
Placemat: (Pier 1) Grove Plaid Placemat – $3.74
Candle holder: (Kohls) – Farmhouse Retreat Candle Holder – $16.99 (sale price)
Leaves: (Pier 1) – Maple Leaf decor – $4.99 each (got them on sale!)
