Manis. Manis. And More Manis.
To those of you who couldn’t care less about nail art…I apologize. I do. You are dismissed. Now just pinky swear that you’ll come back and see me on Saturday, okay?!
And as for the rest of you. You’ve heard my story about how insanely obsessed I am/was with nail wraps. If you haven’t, you should probably start with my post Obsessions: Manicure Edition!!!
I’ve decided to share all of my favorite manis today, in hopes that it may inspire some fabulous nail art for you this year!
Oh, and I know you know you can trust me. But just as a reminder, I’m NOT a consultant for any nail wrap/strip company, and never have been. Just one pretty darn good customer! 🙂
What I Use
The Wraps/Strips
Most of these manis were done using Jamberry nail wraps. Some designs are retired, some are newer. After about a year of using Jamberry, I learned about Color Street, which are real nail polish strips and they are easier to apply and also quite beautiful, but more pricey! I’ve done a few Color Street manis as well! THEN I also got into Lucky Moose Nails through a connection in the Jamberry world. These lovelies are also nail polish strips, like Color Street, but are cheaper, and still gorgeous! I’m planning a comparison post sometime! If I didn’t have quite literally 1,000 Jamberry wraps, I would probably make an official switch over to the nail polish strips.
The Top Coat
Alright, so I apply whatever wrap/strip I am using, then I always apply a top coat. Otherwise, the wraps catch in my hair and drive me batty until I break down and just pull those suckers off. As far as the actual top coat, I’ve tried ColourCure and TruShine (both are Jamberry products), but started getting an intense reaction to ColourCure, and TruShine just wasn’t durable enough for me. So I put my googling skills to work and have landed on CND base/top coat (about $15/bottle on eBay) with a Sun Lamp ($28.99 on ebay) as my new gel top coat option and it’s working out quite well. I cure the base coat for 60 seconds and the top coat for 2 minutes. Learned that from googling, also, so I hope it’s right.
The Removal
People always ask me how I remove my wraps/strips, and the ugly truth is that I just pull those bad boys off. My nails survive! The top coat makes that process a little easier and it doesn’t seem to do too much damage, honestly. But this is not the recommended approach. The officially Jamberry wrap removal video is linked below. Color Street and Lucky Moose come off with nail polish remover! Hooray!
