Obsessions: Manicure Edition! (And the insane way this came about…)

I will reserve this title, “Obsessions,” for truly only my most favorite things. PROMISE.

And before we get going here, you need to know that I am not, and have never been a consultant for any nail company. But I am a pretty darn good customer!!! 🙂

I don’t have a ton of talents, but one thing I do well is a good mani. I’ve been painting my nails since I can remember, and now have thrown myself head first into the deep, deep waters of nail wraps of many varieties.

Last year, I incidentally ran a Jamberry black market.

Prepare for some ridiculousness.

I had some mental downtime in Minnesota while my husband was training at Mayo. He was super busy and I needed something besides children to think about. I remembered that I had used Jamberry nail wraps a few years ago when one of my friends was selling it. So I started asking around, since I wanted to try it again, and learned that there were these Facebook groups where people sold them cheaply. Ooooooh! So I found some groups and started buying. At the time, I was under a lot of stress, with my oldest FREAKING OUT CONSTANTLY, and when under tremendous stress, I drink a LOT of Dr. Pepper and buy stuff. Apparently. I would buy $10 here, $20 there…I knew it was adding up. But then one day, my husband asked me how much I had spent and I told him somewhere in the ballpark of $250-$500. He wasn’t thrilled but was willing to consider it my birthday and Christmas presents. After that convo, feeling guilty, I knew I needed the exact number, so I did some quick math later to add it up for real. Oh dear.

Nearly $1,074 I had spent. (!!!!!!)

In one month. This is the actual screenshot I took the day I realized it.

YIKES!!!! Unacceptable. Just, like, majorly unacceptable. I was SHOCKED. I cried. I am not even going to tell you what my husband said. (But I promise I DID actually tell him!)

Okay, so at that point, I decided to sell a bunch back (duh!) I did it all online. I enjoyed the process and kept going for many months, buying and selling. It was totally crazy – I would have to stay up until 2am regularly to do this and I was pregnant! I even became an administrator of one of my favorite buying and selling groups.

But anyway, cut to the present: I’ve made most of my money back and still have tons and tons of wraps for my own enjoyment. My husband is over it (pretty much). I’ll show you my collection someday. It’s insane. Here’s some more quick math for you:

I have so many wraps that I could change my nails every week, and guess how many years they would last?

34 years. 🙈🙈

How embarrassing is THAT??

Oh, and now I’ve been buying ColorStreet and Lucky Moose Nails (which I’m afraid might just be better!) Dangit.

Anyway, I love the holiday season, starting with Halloween, because I can basically wear themed manis until Valentine’s Day. Yay! I wanted to show you some of my Halloween manis! There will be many more to come!

Let’s start with THIS Halloween! Here are my three:

This one is Jamberry and I have it on now!:
